Religion of the Kazan Khanate period | Moslem Clergy played a great role in the life of the Kazan Khanate. These people owned great amounts of land donated to the mosques. Kajum Nasiry wrote about one of such mullahs called Abdarazzak – his estate was so huge that there were 20 entrances to his yard only.
At the head of the clergy was one of seids; lower positions occupied sheikhs, imams, mullahs, khafizes and khalfs (teachers). |
