National Museum of the Republic Tatarstan
The National Museum of the Republic Tatarstan is situated right in the center of Kazan, in the building of the former Inn yard - one of the architectural monuments of the XIX century. On April, 5, 2005 the museum will celebrate its 110-th anniversary. The collections of the museum contain more than 800 thousand items that give us a clue to understanding of the history, culture, way of life and traditions of the peoples of Tatarstan and ancient civilizations.
The pride of the museum stock is the ethnographic collection containing unique household items and pieces of clothes of the Tatarstan peoples. The natural-science collection that includes geological-mineralogical, paleontological, botanical and zoological collections is one of the oldest in the museum. The department of excursions and trips offers its visitors more than 50 thematic and general tours along Kazan and other towns of the republic. At the museum there is a gallery called “The Inn Yard”. The Museum works every day but for Monday from 10am. to 17pm.

State Museum of RT Fine Arts
The collection of the museum contains more than 23 thousand paintings, drawings, sculptures, items of dramatic-decorative and folk art. The exhibition displays Russian art of the XVI - beginning of the XX centuries, Tatar national art, and works of Western-European artists of the ÕV – ÕIÕ centuries. In one of the museum halls are frequently organized various exhibitions of the pieces of art from the capital museums, retrospective and individual displays of the works of Tatarstan artists. |
