1992 19 June – the first worldwide Tatar congress was started.
1994 22 January – President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mintimer Sh. Shaimiev issued edict on establishing the “Kazan Kremlin” historical, architectural and artistic culture preserve.
1998 5 February – XVII international F.I. Shalyapin festival was opened. The foundations of Shalyapin’s monument were laid at Baumana street.
1998 23 March – the hockey team “Ak Bars” (Kazan) became Russia’s early champion in ice hockey.
1998 28 March – “Europe-Asia” International music festival was opened in Kazan.
1998 17 June – VIII international congress on “New high-tech for gas, oil industries, energy and communication” was opened in Kazan. |
