 1805 21 March – a military school opened up in Kazan. 
 1806 23 April – the first meeting of the Russian philology enthusiasts club. 
 1809 1 March – a special military hospital for 300 patients was opened. 
 1811 19 April – first issue of Kazan periodic press progenitor - “Kazanskiye Vedomosti” came out. 
 1815-1820 – I. L. Tolstoy, Leo Tolstoy’s grandfather was Kazan’s mayor. 
 1821 – magazine of “Kazanskiy vestnik” began to come out. 
 1832 – first copy of “Zavolzhskiy muravei” magazine appeared. 
 1833 5-8 September – A. S. Pushkin’s staying in Kazan. 
 1834 – “Sceintific transactions of Kazan University” first publishing. 
 1837 – Kazan was visited by V. A. Zhukovskiy. 
 1838 1 January – first number of “Kazanskiye gubernskiye vedomosti” was issued. 
 1839 – establishing of Kazan Economic society. 
 1841 – opening of Kazan Rodion Ladies Institute. 
 1841 – from that year on Leo Tolstoy began his studying in Kazan. 
 1844 3 January – N. K. Bazhenov came to Kazan to take up a staff doctor vacancy at the powder works and wrote in the aftermath  his three-volume work on “Kazan History”. 
 1844 11 January – first orphan asylum opened up in Kazan. 
 1845 6 May – construction of the building for the Assembly of the Nobility began. 
 1845 8 May – construction of the building for the Kazan seminary began (at the present known as 6th municipal hospital). 
 1848 2 January – opening of the city public bank. 
 1850 24 May – opening of the ladies’ school (later known as the ladies’ gymnasium). 
 1851 – setting up of iron foundry of Sveshnikov. 
 1855 – opening of candle works and soap factory of Krestnikov brothers. 
 1859 18 December – first Kazan telegraph station came into action. 
 1860 – setting up of cotton mill, weaving mill and tannery of Alafuzov brothers.  |
