15.11.05Jazz trends of different epochs meet in Kazan at a “Jazz crossroad 2005” | The annual International festival “Jazz crossroad” is a prestigious musical forum of Kazan devoted to the memory of Oleg Lundtrem and is held on November 18-20 at the State Big Saidashev Concert Hall. Modern trends of jazz as well as jazz mainstream will be presented on the concerts. As the director of the festival Igor Ziser reported, the festival “Jazz crossroad” is put on an official list of actions devoted to Kazan Millennium. Due to the fact, that a prominent jazz-man whose creative work is connected with Kazan passed away on October 14 this year, a decision was made to dedicate this “Jazz crossroad” to his memory. The director of the festival also mentioned that there are certain jazz traditions in Kazan that should not be neglected.
Festival concerts are held on November 18-20 at the State Big Saidashev Concert Hall. As a matter of fact, the beginning of Kazan jazz festival coincides with the gala-concert of International “Jazz province” headed by Leonid Vintskevich. Russia’s people’s artists, composers David Goloshekin and Leonid Vintskevich, a famous drummer Victor Epaneshnikov, an American saxophonist Mike Ellis, and an Anglo-Scandinavian trio “Steckpanna” are performing here. A jazz pianist Daniel Kramer, well-known to Kazan audience makes a trio with a contrabass player Sergey Vasiliev and a drummer Oleg Butman. The concert is oriented for lovers of modern jazz trends.
Those who prefer classical mainstream jazz are invited by the organizers on November 20. Original arrangements of Oleg Lundstem and other composers will be performed by Tatarstan State Cinematography orchestra headed by Victor Dering and by “Syntez band” headed by Anatoly Vasillevsky and “Academic band” headed by Nikoly Novikov from Ulianovsk. An honored art worker of Russia Vladimir Feiertag will be a master of ceremonies at both the concerts. |
