The ceremony of commemorative medals "In memory of the 1000-anniversary of Kazan" awarding took place in the government of Leningradsky oblast. Among awarded Zhafyar Ponchaev - mufti of Saint Petersburg and Northwest region of Russia, heads of the large enterprises of Leningradsky oblast, representatives of Tatar public organizations, the heads of municipal formations.
Welcoming awarded, the governor of Leningradsky oblast Valery Serdyukov told, that Kazan has got prettier and changed. “This city is the most modern and with the highest culture”, - noted V.Serdyukov. He expressed confidence, that Kazan becomes the third city of Russia, where the international level events will take place.
Leningradsky oblast authorities make everything for maintenance and development of civilized interethnic and interconfessional relations in region , promoting preservation of culture, language and traditions of representatives of peoples populating Leningradsky land. In full measure it concerns to tatars. A vivid example to that is the help of regional authorities in the organization and carrying out of a national holiday "Saban-tui" and other events from year to year.
