The Yaroslavl masters - ceramists are completing work over last batch of unique tiles which will decorate Mardjani mosque in Old - Tatar sloboda of Kazan. The works were supposed to be finished to celebrations of the 1000-anniversary of Tatarstan capital, however to make 3000 tiles for 2 months was unreal. New tiles which will decorate a frieze of the mosque are as two peas similar on old ones.
In interview to the city TV channel Yaroslavl ceramist - restorer told that not only on structure of clay and glaze but also on figure, the Kazan tiles differ from Yaroslavl ones. It was necessary to master all in working order. For Yaroslavl masters it is the first experience of Islamic tiles restoration. Not only the tiles are unique but also the mosque for which they are intended. It is the first mosque constructed in Russia after conquering Kazan by Ivan Grozny. It was erected in XVIII century after Catherine Second personal sanction. |
